Shellee Dyne’s interest in nutrition started when she was a little girl. How could it not? As daughter of a fitness enthusiast and health club owner, she grew up in a household where breakfast was inspired by the food pyramid and dessert was a multi-vitamin chaser. As she grew older, Shellee starting asking why and delving deeper into what made a healthy lifestyle. Her curiosity soon evolved into a passion for understanding wellness and helping others achieve it.
Holding a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology as well as a certification as a nutritionist, Shellee takes a nuanced and measured approach to helping her clients. Variety, moderation and balance are the cornerstones of her wellness philosophy, with a focus on setting achievable nutrition goals and incorporating, where appropriate, aerobic exercise and resistance training to complete a program.
The key to balancing her life, which includes family, work, and charity, is exercise, enough sleep, and healthy eating. She loves to spin, weight train, and run to keep physically and mentally strong as possible given her and her family’s busy schedules (Shellee and her husband of 16 years have two sons, ages 13 and 10). She always try to get to the Calabasas Farmers market on Saturdays to go through the stalls of fruits and vegetables to bring home the freshest food possible. Shellee also enjoys cooking healthy foods for her family: their favorite dinner is an easy recipe from Pamela Saltzman—a certified holistic health counselor and natural foods cooking instructor—for chicken tacos in the crock-pot! Shellee’s happiest times are these family dinners or family ski or beach trips. Shellee, her husband and children also devote time as a family to Jake’s Ladder, which is near and dear to her heart since she started it 13 years ago to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation after her older son was diagnosed at the age of 14 months. She takes pride in the fact that to date Jake’s Ladder has raised more than 1.5 million dollars.
With all that keeps her busy, Shellee always says that being a nutritionist is her true passion. She finds it so rewarding and fulfilling to help people find good nutrition and a healthy lifestyle whether they want to lose weight, control an ailment such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure or just get to a place that they feel strong and healthy!
